On (non-)finiteness in Inuktitut

چکیده
In this paper we examine the appropriateness of the term ‘nonfinite’ for a construction in Inuktitut containing the mood morpheme -llu(which has been variously labeled participial, appositional, etc.). We find that the label non-finite is conventionally used when a minimal (but not fixed) set of properties is found. We conclude that -lludoes not meet this minimal requirement and is therefore not non-finite.

The acquisition of ergativity in Inuktitut*
One potential challenge for children learning Inuktitut comes from the ergative case marking system, because of the contrast between the ergative system in morphology and the accusative system governing syntax. However, no studies have yet been published focusing on how Inuktitut-speaking children acquire ergativity. In this chapter, we investigate this process using naturalistic spontaneous sp...

This article presents the performance evaluation of INUKTITUT, an interface that allows effectively and easily carrying of parallel programming highlevel environments such as Athapascan on the computing clusters. INUKTITUT contains functions for multithreading and for communications: the intra-node parallelism of processes is managed by threads communicating via shared memory; the inter-node pa...

ABSTRACT. Let R be a commutative noetherian ring, I and J are two ideals of R. Inthis paper we introduce the concept of (I;J)- minimax R- module, and it is shown thatif M is an (I;J)- minimax R- module and t a non-negative integer such that HiI;J(M) is(I;J)- minimax for all i
متن کاملAligning and Using an English-Inuktitut Parallel Corpus
A parallel corpus of texts in English and in Inuktitut, an Inuit language, is presented. These texts are from the Nunavut Hansards. The parallel texts are processed in two phases, the sentence alignment phase and the word correspondence phase. Our sentence alignment technique achieves a precision of 91.4% and a recall of 92.3%. Our word correspondence technique is aimed at providing the broades...
